Education Secretary Resigns |
Staunch Trump Supporter, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has resigned. In her resignation letter, she faulted President Trump for the role his rhetoric played in the attempted siege of the US Capitol. She said the administration should be celebrating its accomplishments instead of cleaning up the mess left by violent protestors.
She is the latest official to resign after the incident. Others include the secretary of transportation and several senior FAA officials. Days before the assault on the Capitol, Ms. DeVos submitted a farewell letter to congress in which she urged legislators to reject free college.
President-elect Biden nominated Miguel Cardona, EdD, as her successor. It is unclear what, if any, impact her early departure will have upon the challenges currently facing higher education. |
