Deadline:December 31, 2021
Note:The due date for payment of deferred employer-share of Social Security tax is approaching. Half the deferred amount must be paid by December 31, 2021. Because that date is a legal holiday in the District of Columbia, payment made up to January 3, 2022, will be considered timely. Failure to meet the deadline may result in penalties and interest. The IRS has posted detailed information and maintains a list of relevant FAQs. Note that third-party payroll processors may require employers to pay earlier than usual in order to meet the deadline.
