Clackamas Fish Returns for the 2025/26 season

Ben Walczak, North Willamette region fish biologist for ODFW will give us an update on salmon and steelhead returns this past season.  Ben and his staff have been working hard to maximize returns in the basin.

ODFW  works with partners like PGE, Clackamas River Basin Council, USFS and Trout Unlimited on habitat restoration and hatchery operations.

Ben is the ODFW district biologist responsible for the North Willamette Watershed District.

Maggie David, PGE Fish Biologist and Lamprey Expert

Lamprey migration present different challenges for fish biologists.  PGE has been working with ODFW to better understand Fish Passage needs for Lamprey and how to improve migration at those barriers.  "Regular" fish ladders do not accommodate Lamprey migration well.

Maggie will talk about the importance of Lamprey as a species in the Clackamas watershed and ongoing work to improve their abundance.

Maggie is a PGE Fish Biologist focusing on mitigating threats to Lamprey migration and survival in the Willamette Basin.
