January Meeting:
Fly Tying with Mark Middleton

Tying the Seal Bugger for Bass and Trout

Seal Buggers and Wooly Buggers are great patterns that imitate baitfish, crayfish, dragonfly nymphs and leeches.  All of these foods are present in our local waters.  There are so many variations on the bugger style fly, but patterns in black, brown, orange/brown and olive will cover many of the foods available to fish in our local lakes and rivers.  Mark will tie some variations of this pattern at our meeting.

Tying Night with Mark Middleton

Mark is a well-known local fly tyer and has been a demonstration tyer at many Expos and Fly Fishing shows.  Mark is very active in supporting Project Healing Waters and sponsors a number of fly tying and outing events during the year.

Mark will tie several patterns but will tie girdle bugs and Semi Seal Buggers, both of which are great for large trout and bass.  Mark will also demo some baitfish patterns that also are great for bass and large trout.  These patterns can all be used in still water for trout and bass, and large rivers like the Willamette and the Columbia for bass.

Mark is an avid angler for bass and trout, and specializes in fly fishing from a kayak on still waters and in our large local rivers.
