Sarah Cloud, Deschutes River Alliance Executive Director talks about recent activities with DRA.
Timothy Lake Outing May 30-June 2.
Our next joint CRTU/TVTU outing will be at Timothy Lake.

The Chapter has reserved several campsites for the week so if you aren't able to secure one of your own, join in with a new or current chapter buddy and share a site.  Most sites have room for multiple tents and it's a good way to share the cost.

Early season fishing at Timothy can be excellent with a shot at Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brook Trout in N. Arm Bay or in the main lake.

First Responder and Veterans Fly Fishing Class

CRTU will again host a beginners fly fishing class for first responders and veterans.

The class will be held on June 16th at Barton Park on the Clackamas River.  Class topics will include:
Intro to casting
Basic knots
Basic Fly Fishing Theory
In-stream insect identification
On-the-water practice casting, presentation and reading the water.

The class is offered as part of TU's Service Partnership program supporting first responders and veterans.

Sarah Cloud, Deschutes River Alliance Executive Director

As you know, May is Salmon Fly time on the Deschutes and a number of other Western Rivers.

Many organizations work to improve the health and quality of the Deschutes River habitat (TU Included!).  On May 10, we are pleased to have Sarah Cloud, Executive Director of the DRA will talk about the latest water quality report on the lower Deschutes and other recent activities underway at the DRA.

Sarah has a career in the non-profit sector that spans more than thirty years. It has included a position as part of the mediation firm that worked with the Hanford Advisory Board, developing and executing outreach campaigns for organizations such as the Citizens’ Utility Board and working in development. In her position prior to DRA, she was instrumental in creating and executing a strategic plan focused on growth.

She enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest especially flat waters via kayak and her vintage travel trailer. Her recent obsession is fly fishing. Her two teenage daughters enjoy joining her on many adventures.

CRTU Awarded Grant for Cub Creek Restoration

A grant totalling $42,000 was awarded to Clackamas River Chapter from the US Forest Service for the proposed project on Cub Creek in the upper Clackamas.

CRTU also learned that the OWEB review board met on our application and has recommended our project to be fully funded at our requested level of $228,000.

The confluence of Cub Creek and the Clackamas is an important spawning and rearing area heavily impacted by the Lion's Head Fire in 2020.

CRTU will partner with ODFW and USFS to implement this project.

North Fork Eagle Creek Dam Removal on Schedule.

This fully funded Dam Removal project is moving ahead.  We are in the permitting and design phase with (de)construction scheduled for the summer of 2022.
