Consider Winter Trout Fishing on the Crooked and Lower Deschutes
- Avoiding crowds, the angling pressure is minimal
- The weather is better than you think! Cooler temps mean less wind. Be flexible! Check forecasts and adjust your trip accordingly. Just because it's rainy in the Valley, the East Side often remains dry.
- There is still some dry fly activity. The Blue Winged Olive hatch is pretty reliable between 12 and 2. Cloudy, drizzly days produce more BWO's.
- But Be prepared for a sub surface day. Euro nymphing, dry-dropper or indicators will produce fish.
- In the Lower Deschutes, the chances of hooking a steelhead in November and December are better than you think!
