Still on Virtual Meetings but Get Outside!
Sorry to report that we will continue holding our meetings on Zoom for the forseable future.  When the pandemic settles down we will return to a hybrid format where meetings are in person but will also be broadcast live on zoom.
Outings in September

There is still time to plan our last outing of the year.  Fall River has been a popular outing with a number of different fishing opportunities available.  While many anglers fish the Fall River, there are lake fishing opportunities at Crane Prairie, East & Paulina and a number of other locations as well.  Pick your best venue and get going! The chapter has reserved several sites at Fall River Campground.

Thanks to Paige Wallace who has agreed to be our social media coordinator for the chapter.  Check us out on Facebook!

Sophia Kaelke: Rogue-South Coast Multi-Species Management Plan

Sophia is our new Oregon Engagement manager and is working on member outreach for a number of policy areas.  ODFW has been working on updating the South Coast management plan.  While we thank ODFW for working on this important topic, there are areas of concern in the plan.  Sophia will review these concerns and other aspects of the plan.

Sophia is the Oregon Engagement Manager for Trout Unlimited’s Angler Conservation Program, focusing on outreach, organizing, and communications work. Her work supports the Wild Steelhead Initiative in Oregon.

CRTU Hosts a Service Partners Intro to Fly Fishing Class

CRTU hosted our first class offered to First Responders and Veterans this summer.  Our initial class was attended by Gladstone. Police and Fire and some veterans.  Students learned the basics of Fly Fishing, Casting, Reading the Water and some basic stream entemology.  TU seeks to engage our first responders and veterans by providing these opportunities to learn about fishing and protecing our local watershed resources.

PDX Women on the Fly Selects new leaders

Many of our women members also frequent PDX WOF events and classes.  The group is actively working on introducing women to fly fishing and also support CRTU conservation projects.

Austen Bates and Amber Toal have been selected as leaders for the organization.

We'd like to acknowledge Kim Garner, Callie Prater-Freeman and Laura McGuill for all their work in organizing this important effort.
