CRTU Leads the Largest Wood Placement In The History of Mt. Hood National Forest!
On July 21 and 22, the combined project team of Clackamas River TU, USFS and ODFW worked with Columbia Helicopters to place 387 fire logs in Cub Creek and Berry Creek. It was the largest helicopter placement of large wood in the history of the forest.
This is a Chapter-led project that is focused on expanding the critical spawning and rearing areas upstream of the Big Bottom region of the Clackamas. Both ODFW and USFS have identified this area as critical spawning and rearing habitat that was affected by the Lion's Head Fire in 2020.
The work with Columbia Helicopters took 2 days and cost $128,000. The project is funded through a grant from OWEB.
