Veteran Entrepreneur Explores New Way of Giving Back to UCLA
 

UCLA VC Fund’s Michael Silton has come up with a way for young entrepreneurs to give back to UCLA at the same time they take advantage of the university's venture fund: give stock in startups.

With almost $9 million in funding from the likes of Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Tribogenics is aiming to use triboluminescence to shake up X-ray tech.

UCLA Surpasses $1B in Research Expenditures 
UCLA researchers logged research expenditures of $1.003 billion, according to the NSF. It was one of eight research universities to be included in the “billion-dollar club,” and is the highest amount for UCLA researchers in the university’s history.
