Amir Naiberg to Lead UCLA Tech-Transfer Initiatives
UCLA has named Amir Naiberg associate chancellor for research and CEO of Westwood Technology Transfer. Naiberg, who joined UCLA August 3rd, leads OIP-ISR, which oversees the campus’s efforts in commercializing IP, collaborating with industry and fostering entrepreneurship, as well as Westwood Technology Transfer, a nonprofit company wholly controlled by UCLA that is focused on protecting and optimizing UCLA discoveries. Kite Enters into Global Licensing Agreement with UCLA
Kite Pharma, Inc. (Nasdaq:KITE), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing engineered autologous T-cell therapy (eACT™) products for the treatment of cancer, announced that it has entered into an exclusive, worldwide license agreement with The Regents of the University of California, on behalf of UCLA. The technology is based on research led by Gay M. Crooks, M.D. [

US Patents Issued: UC System #1, UCLA #1 UC-wide
The University of California has been ranked first in the world among universities granted U.S. utility patents in 2014, according to a report released in June 2016 by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO). The UC system was granted 453 utility patents in 2014 for discoveries made by its researchers. [
