The Department of Mass Communications is saddened to share the news that its dear colleague and friend, Bruce R. Daniel, lecturer and director of communication studies, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 23. He had recently returned to his hometown of Springfield, Missouri, to be near his beloved sister, Janet Wicks, and the rest of his family.

Bruce was a passionate and dedicated teacher who taught thousands of students public speaking skills over his nearly 32 years in the classroom at UWG and as a debate coach.

As the longest-serving faculty member of the College of Social Sciences, Bruce will be honored as the Mace Bearer in Absentia at fall Commencement. His obituary may be found here.
