Changes to University E-Mail Lists Policy

•         There will no longer be an “ALL Faculty/ALL Staff” E-Mail List for general use and comments.

•            The “ALL Faculty/ALL Staff” E-Mail List will be replaced by the “ALL Employees” E-Mail List (automatic opt-in and required for all UWG employees).

o     Posting to this E-Mail List will be limited to administrative staff authorized by the President and/or the appropriate Vice President.

o     The ability to reply to the email list as a whole will be disabled.

o     Any employee who seeks clarification on a message should contact the sender directly as specified in the policy.

•            The “ALL Faculty” E-Mail List will be limited to discussion and information relevant to faculty and pedagogy (automatic opt-in subscribers identified by Provost, must manually opt-out).

o     The Provost’s office will establish appropriate guidelines for subscription, posting, and expected use.

o     Faculty and related staff will be identified and subscribed at the request of the Provost’s office, but may choose to opt out.

•            The “ALL Staff” E-Mail List will be limited to discussion and information relevant to staff and operational/administrative functional topics (automatic opt-in, subscribers identified by VPs, must manually opt-out).

o     The Vice Presidents will establish appropriate guidelines for subscription, posting, and expected use.

o     Staff will be identified and subscribed at the request of each Vice President, but will have the option to opt-out.

•            The “UWG Community and Events” E-Mail List has been renamed “UWG Items of Interest” (automatic opt-out, must opt-in to receive communications).  Employees may use their westga.edu address.

•            The Work West Bulletin will be sent to the “ALL Employees” E-Mail List, rather than the “ALL Faculty” and “ALL Staff” E-Mail Lists.

•            The Chief Public Relations Officer will monitor and ensure compliance with all UWG-Hosted E-Mail Lists.

This document will be posted on the policy and procedures website shortly for ongoing reference, and a link will be provided for your convenience.

During the week of July 23, The Center for Business Excellence will offer Time and Absence Approver and Account Reconciliation training. To register for a particular training, please log in to DevelopWest and click on Instructor-Led Training Sessions on the home page and search for the training in which you wish to enroll.

Unpack the Pack
On August 10, 11, and 14, the university will be welcoming more than 3,300 residential students moving into their new homes. Please expect increased traffic and an impact on parking throughout campus on all three days. University Police and other campus partners are working diligently to ensure these days go smoothly during this busy time.

To continue the tradition of move-in day, Housing and Residence Life is offering volunteer opportunities for Unpack the Pack 2018 on August 11. The success of this day relies on the participation of the campus community and you are invited to register for this volunteer opportunity. If you or an organization (campus or community) would like to participate in Unpack the Pack 2018 on Saturday, August 11, please fill out the volunteer form found here.

If your department has items to distribute to students, please deliver them to the Housing Office in East Commons no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1.

If you have any questions, please contact unpack@westga.edu or any member of the Housing and Residence Life team.
