Animation Series: Your Rules. Your Vibes by Tales of Turning

Children are the real experts on their own lives. That’s why Tales of Turning's upcoming animation series on child online safety is built directly on the voices of children. Tales of Turning analysed public social media data and, most importantly, listened deeply to children during their Digital School Club workshops. Using a narrative therapy approach, their expert knowledge was documented to share with the world.

The animations are designed for children, empowering them to:

  • Listen to their feelings when something online doesn't feel right.
  • Talk to their friends to break the isolation.
  • Reach out to trusted adults whenever they are worried.

The core message: No matter what happens, and even if they’ve made a mistake online, every child always deserves help and support.

Webinar: Building Safe Futures, Strengthening Child-Centered Responses to Sexual Violence

While preventing childhood sexual violence remains a global priority, children who experience abuse also need timely, coordinated and survivor-centred services that prioritise their safety, wellbeing and rights. Strengthening these response systems is essential to supporting recovery, reducing further harm and contributing to longer-term violence prevention.

The Safe Futures Hub invites you to the fourth session in its Building Safe Futures webinar series. The webinar will bring together researchers and practitioners to explore what it takes to build more effective, accessible and child-centred responses to childhood sexual violence. Participants will hear lessons from the field, reflect on the evidence, and discuss how stronger systems, services, and cross-sector collaboration can better support children and families affected by violence.

Consultancy opportunity: Research on the Cost of Provision of Centre-Based Early Learning Programmes

Ilifa Labantwana, in partnership with the National Department of Basic Education and National Treasury, is seeking a consultant or organisation to conduct research on the cost of providing centre-based early learning programmes in South Africa. The study will generate robust evidence on the real costs of delivering quality early learning, helping to inform funding decisions and strengthen the sustainability of the early childhood development sector.

The consultancy will examine the financial realities faced by different types of early learning programmes and identify what is needed to ensure quality services are both accessible and adequately resourced. This work will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen South Africa's ECD system and support evidence-informed policy and financing reforms that enable more children to access quality early learning opportunities.

Research Paper: Moderators of design and delivery component effects on engagement with a digital parenting intervention: evidence from a factorial randomized trial in Tanzania

Digital health interventions are rapidly expanding in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), yet little is known about how design and delivery components can be tailored to support engagement across diverse populations. Addressing this gap is critical for effective and equitable implementation.

This new study from Tanzania examines how different design and delivery features influence engagement with a digital parenting intervention. The findings show that caregivers do not all engage with digital programmes in the same way, with factors such as age, gender and mental wellbeing shaping which approaches are most effective. The research highlights the importance of tailoring digital parenting interventions to the needs of different users, offering valuable insights for those seeking to scale parenting support while ensuring no families are left behind.
