As we plan our family’s Easter celebrations, let us not forget those who serve us all: consecrated sisters and brothers and our own priests and seminarians! Send them an Easter card or goody basket to show how much you appreciate them! Maybe your ministry can gather items from other groups for one big basket for the sisters at the convent or seminarians at your nearest seminary. Be creative! And as Lent draws to a close, download the
Way of the Cross for Vocations in English and Spanish to use at your parish. |

World Day Prayer for Vocations
|
|
|
The big day is only a month away!! On May 7th, we hope many parishes will join the universal Church in praying for vocations, especially for more priests, consecrated sisters and brothers, and holy marriages. Along with ideas from
www.vocationministry.com, visit
www.worlddayofprayerforvocations.com, a website which has been dedicated to promote this day. The site has Pope Francis’ address for WDPV, bulletin blurbs, a resource packet, and an awesome color bulletin insert that can educate and inspire all parishioners.
If you are a new ministry, try some simple ideas to promote prayer for vocations on this day. You could invite parishioners to pray a
Rosary for Vocations before or after each Mass on May 6-7. You could use the Vocation Prayer below (or one you are using already) as an easy way to promote prayer at your parish: put it in the bulletin, blow it up and put it on a display board or easel at the entrance to church, or download it in English
HERE and in Spanish on the Spanish version of
vocationministry.com, and hand them out to say after Mass. Simple does NOT mean it isn't impactful!

If you are part of an established ministry in Phase II-IV, consider reaching out to other areas of the parish, too. Give the new
Classroom Consecration Poster to each catechist and/or religion teacher at the parish or parish school. You could give each student at the parish school or in catechism classes this beautiful
Queen of Vocations consecration bookmark. There are so many options for what can be done, encourage the youth to pray in any way possible, whether that is in youth group, choir practice, or Boy Scouts. My favorite prayer card for the youth is
Do Whatever He Tells You. There are many options of what you can do. Stretch your ministry as you are growing. A ministry with a mission will be on fire for Jesus and Vocations!

A NEW Resource:
Discerning Religious Life
|
|
|
I encourage priests to have books like
To Save a Thousand Souls on hand to give to those seriously discerning priesthood, and now we have a book for young women who are discerning religious life, too!
Teen girls and young women need truth and guidance while discerning. Sister Clare Mattiass, Vocation Director for the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal, has worked with hundreds of young women who felt called to religious life. In her book
Discerning Religious Life she gives fresh perspective and insights for today’s youth, explaining with humor and wisdom how to discern with clarity the call of Jesus to become His bride. Make sure to have copies on hand at your church to give to those seriously discerning a call to consecrated life. If you are looking for bite-sized portions of these books for your church book rack, check out the booklets
Discerning Priesthood and
Is This A Call?.
