Happy Easter!

Easter blessings to you and yours! This is such a time of rejoicing in our lives and in the Church! After meeting a consecrated man or woman, one of the main attributes that the average Catholic associates with them is JOY! They are a clear witness of the joy that we are all called to live. Let us pray for every man or woman who has said YES to Jesus!

World Day of Prayer for Vocations

        Sunday, April 22, 2018

Established in 1964 Pope Paul VI designated Good Shepherd Sunday to be World Day of Prayer for Vocations which is the day each year that all Catholics are asked to pray to God that he send more workers into the harvest.

At the parish level, this is a perfect opportunity to bring together parishioners, young and old, to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life especially before the Blessed Sacrament. This event can take many forms from a day of adoration for vocations in the chapel or a Holy Hour in the church with a reception afterwards. Advertise this day in all ways no matter if an activity is planned for this event or not as bringing awareness to the fact that we all are charged with praying for vocations is crucial.

For those with a budget, order these full-page bulletin inserts from Vianney Vocations by Friday, April 13 to have them ready by the 22nd.

        Inserts Include:

        • Highlights from the Pope’s letter, condensed for your parishioners.
        • A vocation story displaying the importance of prayer for those discerning.
        • A day in the life of a seminarian, and why they need our prayers.
        • Humor about a religious sister who’s written a book on discernment.
        • A report on the Laboure society, and the work they do for vocations.

If you are brand new and need some ideas, here are plenty from www.VocationMinistry.com!

Please let me know what you’re planning for this special day in the Church!

        Striving for Holiness
Our first call is to holiness! If we all were striving for holiness, our seminaries and convents would be full! Pope Francis has issued his Apostolic Exhortation on the Universal Call to Holiness: Gaudete et Exsultate (Rejoice and Be Glad) - The Call to Holiness in Today’s World.  Here is a great article outlining the main points of this new document. Let us continue to pray for Pope Francis.
