Happy Advent!

As we prepare for the birth of Lord, let us remember our priests and consecrated men and women.

This is the perfect time to shower them with love, prayer, and gifts, whether it be baked goods or a gift card to a Catholic book store, coffee house, or movie theater. Keep in mind that different religious orders have rules on what they can accept. Normally, if you give them money, it must go to the order itself, but gift cards can often be kept in small amounts. Your diocesan priests do not have such restrictions.

    Encouragement

There is still time to collect gifts for a care package for a local seminarian or man or woman in religious formation.

Seminarians receive little, if any, spending money from their diocese while in formation, so giving them a care package at Christmastime goes a long way to affirm their sacrifices along the discernment journey.

The Vocation Ministry can organize this event so that all parishioners can take part, sharing in showing gratitude, generosity, and kindness toward these young men and women. Though their finals may be over for the semester, they will still appreciate this thoughtful gift.

Some practical items for a care package:

      • Thank You Note Cards
      • Stamps
      • Printer Paper
      • Facial Tissue
      • Highlighters
      • Pens and Pencils
      • Post-it Notes
      • Index Cards
      • Legal Pads
      • Dividers
      • Staples
      • Mints
      • Candy
      Upcoming Events

Remember the story of the dads playing flag football and getting hurt because they did not start small by training properly? Whatever you do in the upcoming months, make sure it is manageable for your ministry.

        • World Day for Consecrated Life, February 4-5, 2017
        • World Marriage Day, February 12, 2017

We will discuss these more in January!
