WHEW! You did it!

You made it through the craziest time of the year for vocations: Priesthood Sunday followed by National Vocation Awareness Week, all within 2 weeks!!!! Congratulate your members, sharing pictures and sending out reactions of those who attended the events at your parish. Encourage the Vocation Ministry members and thank them for their hard work! Also, share those same pictures and stories in the bulletin for the parish school/parish so that all can hear the wonderful results!

    FRUITS of our labor!

Many people ask me what the fruits are of having a Parish Vocation Ministry that encourages parishioners to pray for and promotes vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life, and sacramental marriage, so here is a story, from my home parish St. Cecilia, for all of those wondering:

On the Friday we celebrated Vocation Day at our parish school, our Archdiocesan Vocation Director presided over the school Mass and held an assembly. Afterwards, I overheard two teachers talking about what a joyful witness he is, and then one 5th grade teacher said, "I have two boys in my class who say they will be a priest when they grow up!" These are fruits that will not be realized for quite a few years, but they are there! More hands are raised and hearts are open saying HERE I AM, LORD!

      Keep praying and doing!

As you put your feet up and get ready for some turkey, I need your help! Please reply to this email and share the fruits you are seeing at your parish—the results of the good works and prayers of the Vocation Ministry.

      THANKFUL

Thanksgiving is a perfect opportunity to say thank you and show your gratitude to your priests and consecrated religious at your parish or in your community! First, make sure your priest has a loving home to be at for this holiday, and if he does not, please offer him a seat at your table. Don’t forget the retired priests and religious, too. Maybe your ministry could bring a basket of candies to pass out to those priests and sisters who are retired. No matter if anything is given, your presence will mean more to them than anything. Continue to ask parishioners to pray for all priests and religious! Here is a link to a greeting card that you can give to all the groups in your parish:

        Upcoming Events
