Our Promo Video is FINALLY HERE!

A few days before Hurricane Harvey hit us in Houston, I received the final version of Vocation Ministry’s promo video, and I am so excited to share it with you. You will hear from Fr. Victor, who invited me to that fateful meeting about "priests and such" SIX years ago this month, and a few sisters, one is Sister Catherine Thomas, DSMME!

BIG Holy Spirit Moment: I attended Mass at St. Cecilia at our normal time and recognized a religious Sister Catherine Thomas, Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist from Ann Arbor, MI, in the pew behind me. While speaking with her, I almost asked if she would come to the shoot for the video and Mass but did not want to intrude on her few days with her family. Fast forward to my sitting in the pew during the shoot, 20 miles away from St. Cecilia, lamenting the fact that the religious sister we asked to come to the shoot this morning did not come (not her fault). I look up to see Sr. Catherine Thomas coming out of Adoration!!! A real answer to prayer!!!! God bless you, Sister!

I hope that others feel inspired to promote vocations to the priesthood, religious life, and sacramental marriage at their parishes through this video. Share with others who you would like to help you do this vital work at your parish. Let’s continue to create a culture of vocations.

Special Thanks go to Knights of Columbus Council 13357 and Serra International Foundation for the funding for this video.

    Priesthood Sunday

      October 29

I hope your plans are underway to celebrate Priesthood Sunday. Help your priest feel as if they have won the Priest of the Year Award by:

Let all parishioners know about this day ( check out the September Newsletter for ideas and bulletin items for Priesthood Sunday). All prior newsletters can be found at www.vocationministry.com.

Give parishioners an opportunity to pray and praise their priest.

Prayer: There are hundreds of ways to do this, but here is a prayer card specifically designed for this day.

Praise: Have everyone sign a BIG card for your priest. Your parish may be so large that each Mass has its own BIG card. Great! Then display them at the donut and coffee reception on that Sunday. Build him up and let him feel the gratitude and love from your parishioners.

I LOVE this idea from the Diocese of Peterborough, Ontario, CA! Gather a picture of when your priest(s) was younger and share with your parishioners in the bulletin, church email newsletter, or on a poster.
