Photographs by
Ryan Arbilo
Until 17 June 2017

Our special exhibition, featuring black-and-white portraits of Filipinas in France, sheds light into the perseverance of overseas workers. Entitled Chicken Hands, the portraits focus on the hard work and challenges the women face working abroad in order to provide for their families back in the Philippines.

Encounter the photographs of Paris-based Filipino photographer Ryan Arbilo and discover his family's inspiring story.

About the photographer

Born in Laguna, Philippines and now based in Paris, France, 35-year-old Ryan Arbilo studied French, photography, videography in Manila and Paris. Arbilo is a son of a ‘Chicken Hands’ mother.

Former French Minister of Culture Jack Lang says that Arbilo “uses his talent to highlight the plight of these all too often invisible women, to challenge the viewer, and to embody which many prefer to ignore.” Arbilo’s Chicken Hands series of photographs have previously been exhibited in Monaco and Paris.
