New Sales Bonus Contest Rules

Sales eligible for calculation of the New Sales Bonus include new groups (health plans with 2-999 enrolled employees) sold with effective dates from November 1, 2012, through January 15, 2013.

Retention Sales Bonus Contest Rules

A Retention Bonus will be paid to producers who qualify for the New Sales Bonus and retain a minimum of 87 percent of their renewing groups of 2-999 enrolled employees from November 1, 2012, through January 31, 2013.

Examples of how the Texas Touchdown Bonus works:
Sell 6 groups and retain 87% of total eligible health plans during the bonus period and you earn: $1,500 New Sales Bonus + ($1,500 x 1) Retention Bonus $3,000 Texas Touchdown Bonus	Sell 13 groups and retain 90% of total eligible health plans during the bonus period and you earn: $4,000 New Sales Bonus + ($4,000 x 1.5) Retention Bonus $10,000 Texas Touchdown Bonus	Sell 17 groups and retain 95% of total eligible health plans during the bonus period and you earn: $8,000 New Sales Bonus + ($8,000 x 2) Retention Bonus $24,000 Texas Touchdown Bonus

 

Rules of the Game

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) will initiate lump-sum payments to producers within 60 days after January 31, 2013. This Texas Touchdown Bonus Program is separate from all other BCBSTX producer bonus programs.

• The Texas Touchdown Bonus Program applies to new and retained health plans with 2-999 enrolled employees. Health plans must be in force at the time of the bonus calculation.
• Takeovers of existing health plans will not qualify for a Retention Bonus. However, in the event that an existing health plan changes to another producer during the bonus period, the health plan will not be considered a cancellation in the calculation of the retention percentage.
• Producers must be appointed and contracted with BCBSTX to participate. BCBSTX internal records will determine final qualification and payment of bonus awards. Multiple tax ID numbers may not be combined. Business submitted through a General Agent is eligible for the Texas Touchdown Bonus Program.
• If commissions are split on any groups, the same split ratio will be applied to any Texas Touchdown Bonus Program award. For example, if a group is split 50/50 between two producers, each producer will receive .5 credit for the group.
• All payments made pursuant to bonus and recognition programs are subject to federal and state income tax reporting, as well as withholding by BCBSTX (if applicable). Any compensation paid under this Texas Touchdown Bonus Program will be reported to an ERISA plan with 100 or more employees. Upon request, reporting will also be provided by non-ERISA plans or plans with fewer than 100 employees.
