Matt Goss Video Reveal

Mother's Day has come and gone which means we can now reveal the
Matt Goss #Strong video in which Annette Reid participated.  Why Mother's Day?  Because Matt lost his mother, his best friend, to breast cancer, and #Strong was his way of honoring her.  He decided to team up with @SusanGKomen to try to make a difference as well as some sense out of his loss.  The survivors in the video (some of whom are metavivors in ongoing treatment) came together to share their own stories with Matt, including our very own Annette Reid.  After the filming, Ms. Reid posted, "The sharing was healing for all of us. It was an amazing day of tears and joy that I will never forget."  Ms. Reid went on to say that she felt grateful she was able to share the experience with friends, and fellow survivors, Sharon Spencer Schlesinger, Julie Delgado, and @SandraMitchell among others.  I speak for everyone here at e-tuxedocat when I say, we are all blessed because of you, Annette, as well as Matt and his mother.  Click #Strong to view Matt and Annette's video.

LET ME FINISH
SCREENS AT IFS FILM FESTIVAL

JACK
actually in
the correct order
Entertainment producing collective JACK continues to create and deliver award-winning short films to the festival circuit.  Up next, the celebrated indie short, LET ME FINISH, screened as an ‘Official Selection’ at the 21st annual Independent Filmmakers Showcase (IFS) Film Festival on May 24th in Beverly Hills, CA.

Directed by JACK member Carlos Carrasco, and produced by JACK member Annette Reid, LET ME FINISH stars Mark Bramhall

and JACK member Kent Minault (seen right with director Carlos) as two lonely, old gentlemen discovering a new way to connect the past with the present.

LET ME FINISH first gained notoriety in December 2014, earning JACK the ‘Award of Merit’ from The Best Shorts Film Competition. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.

Just last month, JACK earned the prestigious ‘Award of Merit’ a second time for their short film, LOSSED. Directed by Carrasco, this project was an all JACK production, written and starring member Annette Reid alongside fellow member Jens Kohler.

The dramatic story follows two friends experiencing a surprising role reversal while facing an emotional crisis. Previously, LOSSEDwas recognized as an ‘Official Selection’ of both the California Women's Film Festival and the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards (LAIFF).

JACK’s first film outing was the dramatic short, HONESTY, PENCIL, ROSE, which chronicles the shifting relationship between a daughter and her aging father.  Written by Rochelle Newman, the film stars JACK (Jens, Annette, Carlos & Kent) and was helmed by the group’s resident director Carrasco.

Family History & Breast Cancer

Annette says it's important to know your family history when it comes to predicting breast cancer.  According to BreastCancer.org, women with close relatives who've been diagnosed with breast cancer have a higher risk of developing the disease.  If you've had one first-degree female relative (sister, mother, daughter) diagnosed with breast cancer, your risk is doubled.  If two first-degree relatives have been diagnosed, your risk is 5 times higher than average.  If your brother or father have been diagnosed with breast cancer, your risk is higher, though researchers aren't sure how much higher.
There are lifestyle choices you can make to keep your risk of developing breast cancer as low it can be

     * maintaining a healthy weight
     * exercising regularly
     * limiting alcohol
     * eating nutritious food
     * never smoking (or quitting if you do smoke)

So take these steps and start asking about your family's history, aunts uncles, grandparents, anyone who can shed light on breast cancer in your family.  Live #Strong.
