Who they are

Discover more

Social Nature Movement (SNM) is a New Zealand outdoor-education and nature-experience organisation built on a simple idea: discover more. Rather than just running guided activities, SNM facilitates immersive natural experiences — connecting people with the outdoors, and with each other, in a more conscious and meaningful way. It’s an invitation to step off the beaten track and delve into the soul of a place.

What they do

A natural playground

From sea kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding to pack rafting, snow days and multi-day expeditions, SNM offers a remarkable range of land, snow and water-based adventures across Aotearoa New Zealand. There are day discoveries and extended journeys for all ages and fitness levels — plus school camps, holiday programmes, and Outdoor Adventure Guide & Instructor Training. Their playground is the ultimate one: Mother Nature herself.

Their why

One through three

SNM takes a holistic view of the outdoors. Being active in nature together, they believe, nourishes our social, mental and physical wellbeing all at once — “one through three,” more people in more places through more practices. Every outing is bigger than the activity itself: each trip gives something back to the environment and the community, woven through with regenerative tourism, cultural stories, and what they call transformative, four-dimensional travel.

Why them

Value over volume

Theirs is a philosophy of value over volume — small groups, authentic local guides, genuine safety and flexibility, and an experience designed to move you rather than rush you. It’s backed by real credentials and a real track record: NZOIA and Paddle NZ endorsements, a recent ten-year milestone, the acquisition of Auckland glamping specialists Camplight NZ, and thousands of guests each year at a 4.9-star average across some 1,300 reviews.
