HHS PTSA Hospitality Committee hosted the annual Holiday Luncheon for the HHS Faculty and Staff Wednesday, December 14.

Special thanks to Ted's Bar-B-Q of Five Points for catering this year's meal. And, extra shout out to HHS 2018 alum, Ted's General Manager Kameron Moore, who went the extra mile for HHS teachers, admin, and staff!

In addition, all luncheon attendees put their names in a bowl for a random drawing of door prizes. Many thanks to our local businesses who so generously support our teachers and staff, many of whom also employee our HHS students!

Congratulations to the 51 inductees of Mu Alpha Theta. These new members were inducted into the HHS Chapter during a ceremony Monday, December 12, 2022.

This historic mathematics honor society has had a chapter at Huntsville High School since the club’s formation in 1957. Thank you to Chapter Sponsor Beth Clark, officers, and members for your continued hard work.

Attention Juniors & Seniors - ASVAB Exam

The ASVAB exam will be administered here on campus on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Juniors and Seniors interested in taking this exam, please sign-up in the Counseling Center, Main Building with your grade level counselor no later than Friday, January 13, 2023.

There is no cost for this exam. The ASVAB is a standardized test that reveals areas of strength and ability in science, math, and language. Taking the test is a great way to discover your career path. The ASVAB tests you in ten different subject areas:

General science
Arithmetic reasoning
Word knowledge
Paragraph comprehension
Mathematics knowledge
Electronics information
Auto and shop information
Mechanical comprehension
Assembling objects
Verbal expression

Your score will help reveal which career path is right for you. Sign-up today!

Attention Students with a 2^nd Semester Driver's Education Class!!!

You will need to have your Learner's permit for this class. The DMV also requires a Proof of Enrollment form. If you are in need of this form, you can contact anyone of the following people below:

Student Drop-off / Pick-up Reminder

The only gate to enter for student drop-off and pick-up is Gate 5. Gates 2 and 3 are reserved for buses.

No students or parents may enter Gate 2 or 3 in front of the Freshman Academy between 7:45 am – 9:00 am or 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm as this is the bus entry and exit.

Gates 1, 2, and 4 are always exit-only gates.

Clarification from the HHS PTSA Student Achievement Committee regarding the Student Achievement Event that took place on Tuesday, December 6, during Panther Hour.

Criteria for being selected includes the following:

All As
No unexcused absences
No tardies
No discipline issues

If students think they met the above criteria, but did not hear their name, they can see Mrs. Flippo at the beginning of next Semester. Please make sure your students continually monitor their PowerSchool account for grade and attendance accuracy.

And, interested parents looking to participate on this Committee in the future, can visit the PTSA website to volunteer or to provide prizes for future events. Thanks for your support of your PTSA and HHS students!

AP Exams Important Information

AP Exam Pricing:

Most exams cost $97 each including core and elective courses. Biology, Environmental Science and Physics 1 & 2 exams cost $49 each due to supplemental state grant money.

AP Exam Registration & Ordering:

Students must register for an exam in “My AP Classroom” through College Board during each AP class in which the student is enrolled. Exams cannot be ordered if students are not enrolled in “My AP Classroom”. Check with your AP teacher for verification of enrollment.

Tuesday, November 15, 2022:

Deadline to make regular payment for each exam order placed in “My AP Classroom”. After this date, student exam order request status will be changed to “NO”, and late fees will apply.

Friday, March 10, 2023, 3:00pm:

Deadline to order and pay for an exam for the 2023 year. After this date, students will not be able to take an exam in May.

AP Exam Online Payment Instructions:

Go to huntsvillehigh.org
Go to "My School Fees".
Sign into your account or create an account if necessary. New accounts will require the student’s 10-digit SSID#. Email Almond@hsv-k12.org for assistance.
Select "Huntsville High".
Select your student or add your student.
Select "AP Exam Fee".
Follow instructions through checkout.

Additional Notes:

Online payment via My School Fees is preferred. Be sure to select each exam for every AP class in which your student is enrolled. Note: U.S. Government and Economics are separate courses and require two (separate) exam payments.

Checks and money orders will still be accepted. Please make them payable to Huntsville High School. Checks/MOs should be submitted to our bookkeeper, Mrs. Almond, in the Main Building, Main Office (in person or by USPS).

IMPORTANT NOTE: A $40 fee will be assessed in addition to the $97 cost for any late exam orders (after November 15^th). A $40 fee will be assessed for exam cancellations after November 15, 2022. A $40 fee will be assessed for students who order an exam but no show on exam day resulting in an “unused exam”. Any unpaid AP Exam assessments and/or penalty fees will be added to the student school account and must be cleared prior to graduation.

There is no exam fee for students who are approved for Free/Reduced lunch for the 2022-2023 school year. Students MUST be approved for the CURRENT school year. Please check with your grade level counselor for your status. Students must inform the AP Coordinator (Mrs. Mosby) if they have a conflict with an exam date as soon as they become aware. Students may incur an additional fee for Alternate (late) exams.

A-B Calendar
Huntsville High School is on a modified block schedule. Students attend four classes on A-Day and four different classes on B-Day. Panther Hour is attached to 2nd block on both days. The calendar will let you know whether each day is an A-Day or B-Day for the year.
