SFJROTC First Year Cadet Orientation will be held on July 18th- July 22nd from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at Huntsville High School.

It is not mandatory but is highly recommended. IT DOES NOT CONFLICT WITH PRIDE DAY.  We will repeat the information covered while students are at Camp Pride.  This a student-run camp that allows new JROTC students to “learn the ropes” of how AFJROTC works and how we run the program.  The new students will meet and network with other students and they will learn a lot of what they need to know for the upcoming school year.  If they do well during the week, they can earn their first promotion. The week will conclude with a pizza party on Friday afternoon. Students will enter the main building at the entrance by the flagpole.

Please RSVP if your child can attend to Lt. Colonel Murphy at david.murphy@hsv-k12.org

Also, contact us if you or your child have any questions concerning orientation or JROTC in generalIf your child requires medication to be administered while attending any summer program through Huntsville City Schools, please inform the school nurse. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to sign in medication(s) and form(s) with the summer program.
Huntsvillle City Councilman Bill Kling is hosting public drop-in meetings the third Monday of each month at 6 pm. These meetings are held in Meeting Room A at the Huntsville Public Library. City issues, complaints, requests for information, etc, will be discussed. All are welcome.

HHS Freshman Academy - Eagle Scout Project

HHS PTSA is pleased to join HHS Senior Gabriel Watson on his Eagle Scout Project that will benefit all HHS students.

Watson is currently in the fundaising stage of his project - his plans include installing four 6’ termoplastic, backless benches in front of the Freshman Academy. Per his proposal, this location was chosen for many reasons, although the most important reason is for the bus riders. The benches will allow any kid, whether a CTE student waiting for the bus or waiting for parent pick up after sports practice to have a clean and dry spot to sit. The above photo shows the area where these benches will be installed.

Once the project is underway, Watson plans to provide updates on the progression. If you'd like to donate to his Eagle Project, please email legomeister2005@gmail.com
