From the Desk of the Director...
 |
Spring is finally here and the Library and staff are looking forward to a renewal of hope and energy with the coming months. The news of vaccine availability improves each day and we will soon see more of our friends and neighbors immunized.
However, there are still guidelines from the CDC for those who have been immunized including the wearing of masks moving forward. We at the Library are slowly easing some restrictions and there will be news soon of increased services. We are also planning some renovation work in the building which should begin later this spring.
Our 1st floor public bathrooms will be renovated with an eye to an improved access design and new bathroom tiles and fixtures. We also have other plans that will improve service and change the look of the 1st floor area.
At this point our programming is all virtual so take a look at our website and social media pages to see what is being offered. Both the Children’s Department and Local History have a full schedule of virtual events to choose from. Literacy services is busy with training and classes, and now may be a great time to take those computer courses you never had time to take. If you do not want to commit to a class schedule, with your Library card, you can explore self-guided classes on a variety of topics including technology, business, and crafts. If you need assistance feel free to use our Reference Chat or call on (908) 757-1111 ext. 112 to find out more.
There’s lots to do at the Library! Take a look.

Hair Full of Secrets: How Hair was Worn and the Face was Painted in the 18th Century
Thursday, April 10, 2021
10:30am via Zoom
Presented by Early American Music and Arts
In the character of Loyalist Rebecca Franks, Eliza Lichack does a living history demonstration on historical hair and cosmetics. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the past and the present by finding common ground as well as bust the myths surrounding historical fashion.

Daily Live Serial every Weekday at 2pm.
The Count of Monte Cristo continues
Revenge! Intrigue! Poisons and plots! Possibly pistols at dawn!
We're still working on
The Count of Monte Cristo (it's a long book, and at the time of writing we were up to chapter 87 of 117) every weekday at 2-2:30pm. Please pop over to join us if you can, or catch up with the recorded episodes at your leisure over at our Facebook channel's Live Videos page.
We'll eventually get onto other books too (and despite enjoying
TCoMC very much, it'll doubtless be a shorter selection!), so check back in and see what's new!
