Celebrating 25 years of Plainfield Public Library's
Adult Literacy Department
__________________________________________________

It's time to celebrate 25 years of new horizons! Over the last 25 years, the
Adult Literacy Program of the Plainfield Public Library has helped over
5,000 adult learners to:

• learn English
• learn to read & write
• adjust to life in a new country
• get a high school diploma
• find employment
• become citizens
• improve themselves, their families, and their community

We have accomplished this without ever charging a fee.

The program has grown but so too has the need. Now, more than ever,
providing these services is vital.

For our 25th anniversary, we invite you to join our family as a student,
a tutor, or a donor.

If you need help or can help, please contact us at:
(908) 757-1111 ext. 122 or Literacy@plfdpl.info

The Rest of the Story
Saturday, September 10th
10:30 am to noon in the ALD Room

The goal of genealogy isn’t to collect names and
dates to fill up a family tree, but to tell the story of
a family and the unique role of each individual.
Join us for an educational and interesting program
with noted genealogist, Judy G. Russell. Go beyond
the record to tell the rest of the story: how to find it,
when to tell it, and when to keep it to ourselves.

This program is free to the public. Parking will be
limited; registration is required. Contact the
Local History Department at (908) 757-1111 ext.136

Teen poets at the Open Mic event

Congratulations to local student Alexandria Riley on hosting a very
