From the Desk of the Director

Hello, my name is Mary Ellen Rogan and I am the Director of your Library.  This is the inaugural issue of a new newsletter column that will give me the opportunity to talk about the doings at the library, library issues on my mind, book recommendations and other library related topics that I am excited about and want to share with all of you.

As this issue goes to press, summer reading is winding down.  I hope you and your families have enjoyed the events we have brought to the city for you and your children and I welcome any feedback as to what you would like to see in the future.  My personal favorite was Howling Woods.  It was fun to see them at the Library and to see how the children reacted to them being here.  Stay tuned for our next big animal event, the Harvest Festival and Petting Zoo coming in October.  Looking forward to hearing from you,

Mary Ellen

Summer fun with Teen Programs: Make Stuff! Battle Goblins!

millstone valley

Teen programs for August have a range of activities to refresh your brainparts and stave off summer boredom!

You can tell your own interactive summer story with Twine on the 9th of August (4pm, Computer Lab), make your own beats and tunes with Audiotool on the 16th of August (4pm, Computer Lab) or create repeating patterns that interlock with Modular Printmaking on the 19th of August (4pm in Room 5)

If you've had enough of this sunshine business and crave a cool dark dungeon* with monsters and baddies to defeat (and as much goblin loot as you can carry), then Descent (August 26th, Room 4) is the one for you, as we combine forces on a casual Role Playing Game (RPG).

Check out the posters in the links, or contact teens@plfdpl.info (908) 757-1111x139 to find out more!

(* the Library stays cool thanks to the magic of A/C but contains no  actual dungeons as far as we know, so you'll have to bring your imagination.)
