From the Desk of the Director...

Library Director Mary Ellen Rogan
I hope you are all enjoying access to full service. Browsing the stacks for older titles can uncover new authors or titles to read. I have recently started reading Brad Thor and I am now engrossed in his first Scott Horvath book

The Lions of Lucerne. Since I enjoy reading series in sequence I have started on number 1. The action, intrigue and suspense is an attention grabber. I will keep you posted as to my final assessment of this older title! The latest in the series, Book 20, entitled Black Ice has just been released in July, so you might want to give it a try.

Our remote printing kiosk is now live and you can request your printing remotely and then pick it up at the library. Summer Reading is in full swing and our new online summer reading program, Beanstack, is available through our website. Follow the links from the Main Page of the Library website

Programming is still remote though there are some arrangements being made for outdoor events this summer and fall for families. Our kid’s craft kits can be picked up in the Children’s Room for anyone interested in crafts.

Local History has now added Tuesday evening hours to its regular 9-5 schedule.  Appointments are needed.

Our new bathrooms on the first floor will be completely soon and they are beautiful and modern, a great improvement!

I look forward to seeing you all at the library,

Mary Ellen Rogan

Current Library Hours from June 28th

From June 28th, our public opening hours increased to:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 9am -5pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9am-7pm

The stacks are open for browsing once again, (curbside service is still available on request if you prefer), and the main floor Reference, Tech Desk and Circulation desks are all now available for in-person service whenever we're open. Additionally, patrons can now visit the Children's room freely once again, and make appointments for Local History visits, while our Literacy department offers walk-in visiting on Mondays, alongside a range of ongoing services, and classes.

You're now able to come use the computers for up to 2 hours once again, and we're working hard to make sure our remaining adaptations and changes to service can be resumed safely as soon as it's practicable to do so.

Our public bathrooms are not currently available, because they are being remodelled and improved, so we hope to be able to reopen them with better facilities, later in the summer.

As per the City of Plainfield's general instructions for public buildings, everyone should still wear a mask while inside the library, but we're getting much closer now to normal services.
