Amir Whitaker - "Dr. Knucklehead":
Reading and Performance

Anne Louise Davis Room
December 20th from 6pm

Amir Whitaker is a local author and civil rights lawyer whose early experiences led him from Plainfield to visiting 30 countries before he was 30, several college degrees and the creation of a non-profit organization. ( Project Knucklehead uses education, music, art, and other forms of self-expression as tools to inspire vulnerable youth.)

Dr. Whitaker has returned to Plainfield to share his work and his new autobiography “The Knucklehead’s Guide to Escaping the Trap”.

Join us as Dr. Whitaker brings his story to life with an engaging show that combines live music, hip hop, poetry, and dance—over a powerful visual presentation. There will also be free books and Holiday gifts for students!

Plainfield: Art, History, and Culture
The Twelfth Annual Plainfield Photography Competition Exhibition is Open
On display in the Anne Louise Davis Room
through December 31, 2017

Our 12th Annual Photograph Contest exhibition Plainfield: Art, History, and Culture presents images that the photographers view as important in documenting the Queen City for future generations.

The 2017 competition met with the enthusiastic response of 14 contributors who entered 52 images of Plainfield. Congratulations to all entrants for the high quality of photographs and creativity.

These photographs will continue to build our Local History photography archive. All entries have been digitized, indexed, and added to Plainfield Public Library's Historical Photograph Collection, which consists of over 50,000 area photographs taken from 1865 to date.

Since the Library’s first annual photograph competition in 2006, we have received 860 photographs from a total of 97 participants. All past contest exhibits can be viewed via the Library’s website, www.plainfieldlibrary.info.

We wish to thank the Friends of the Plainfield Public Library, whose support has made it possible to award cash prizes, ribbons, and certificates.
