From the Desk of the Director...

Library Director Mary Ellen Rogan
Hi All!

So who can believe it is the end of the 2021? So many changes and adjustments during the last year. We hope everyone can spend time with friends and loved ones over the holidays this year.

The Library had many changes as well. As you come into the building you will see new locations for books and desks, new bathrooms, a new lab, and coming in 2022… a Passport Acceptance Facility. Yes, we have been approved and staff are training so we can go live in the new year. Now if you need a new passport or a renewal the Library can be your destination. Look for news of our start date on the website and on Facebook. We are ordering our supplies and building our Passport Acceptance Facility – stay tuned!

Other good news for the Library. We have received a grant from the State of New Jersey through the Construction Bond Act and we will be replacing our roof. Our roof is at least 20 years old and in need of replacement. This is very good news for us. Once the roof is replaced we will be adding solar panels on the roof to become more environmentally conscious. Be prepared for all the work going on in the building in 2022.

I hope you all have a healthy and happy holiday season and always remember, come to the Library we are here for you.

Mary Ellen Rogan

Plainfield Library Genealogy Club Presents:

Adoption and Biological Family Search Resources

Saturday, December 4, 2021
10:30am via Zoom
Presented by Eric Migdal, Owner, It’s All Relative Genealogy, LLC.

As an adoptee with almost nothing to go on, Eric Migdal spent the better part of a 1/4 century looking for his family history with wrong information. The tools and techniques he acquired from the National Genealogical Society, experienced genealogists, and DNA testing led him to the correct family. He is passing along these resources and research methods in this program. There will be time for Q&A following the presentation. This program will not be recorded.

This program is co-hosted by Plainfield Public Library and the Historical Society of Plainfield / Drake House Museum.

This FREE program is open to all.
