From the Desk of the Director...
I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. This time of holidays, family and friends is always special to me. From Halloween through Christmas is my favorite time of the year!
We are once again having our Food for Fines. By donating an item of groceries or pet food you can reduce your overdue fines by $1.00 for each item donated. All items collected will go to lStarFish and the Plainfield Humane Society. Think of giving during this most special season.
Along with our regular programming, for the holiday season we have some additional special events throughout the month of December. There will be animals and reptiles galore at the Library! On December 27th we have Rizzo’s Wildlife World (flyer) speaking about insects, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. On December 29th there will be a visit from Howling Woods Farm (flyer), a rescue shelter for domestic-bred wolves and wolf dogs. Both programs will be in the Anne Louise Davis Room on the lower level of the Library. Howling Woods Farm was here before and they were a great hit for all ages. Fun holiday programs for tweens and teens include making “stained glass” earrings and keychains (flyer) on December 8th; and for teens, adults and seniors Holiday Ornament Decorating (flyer) on December 15th.
As you are probably aware we have been very busy with our strategic plan surveys and focus groups. If you haven’t taken our survey and would like to give us your feedback it isn’t too late. The surveys are available and you can still participate. As we refine the information we receive, we will keep you posted on what new things may be coming in the future to the Library. Remember, this is your library, and we want you to have a part in what the Plainfield Library of the future can be.
Happy a happy and healthy holiday season,
Mary Ellen Rogan

November 1st - December 31st
Our annual holiday season food drive is back for 2022. This is another chance to have overdue charges waived in exchange for food items, which will be donated to local non-profit StarFish Food Pantry to share with those in need. You can also make food donations to the drive if you do not have any fines to clear. Food for Fines is in support of pets too - you can make donations of items for pets (e.g. can/bag/box of food, cat litter or pet treats). These items will be donated to the Plainfield Area Humane Society. Thank you for your generosity!
For each item donated, you will receive $1 off of overdue charges.
Please note that we are unable to accept donations in lieu of lost item charges or collection fees, and we will accept a maximum of 20 items per cardholder in lieu of overdues.
