Dear Library Supporter:

It is my pleasure to write on behalf of the Library Board of Trustees to thank you for your support of the Plainfield Public Library.  The Plainfield City Council has just approved the library’s budget, which will allow us to restore evening and Saturday hours.  Councilmembers verbally acknowledged the outpouring of community support for the library, so from all of us we thank them and we thank you.

I am excited to report that in August the library began the much anticipated renovation of the Children’s Library, made possible primarily through private donations to our Capital Campaign.   When completed in the late Spring of 2011, this will be the most exciting children’s space in the Plainfield area.  With a recent capital funding allocation of $100,000 from the Plainfield City Council, the costs of construction have been covered.  But for the most part, this project has been funded by private donations, and your support is still needed.

As we approach the end of the year, I hope we can count on your donation to sponsor an item of furniture or equipment for the Children’s Library.  A list of needed items is included for your consideration.  All contributions will be recognized on a donor wall, which is now being planned by the Trustees.  Thank you for your help in making the Plainfield Public Library the important community center it is, and one of the finest public libraries in New Jersey.
