February is full of reasons to love your library! This Valentine’s Day, fall in love with your library card and all it unlocks - from books, movies, and digital resources to programs, study spaces, and adult literacy courses.
February is also Black History Month, a time to celebrate and honor Black leaders, creators, and communities that have shaped our past and continue to inspire our future. We will have special programs throughout the month, including a virtual event about the New Jersey Black Heritage Trail hosted by our Local History Department and the Drake House Museum. There will also be a Black History Month Celebration hosted by Youth Services, honoring Langston Hughes with stories and crafts at Cindelle's Bookstore. Can't make it to either of those? Scroll to the bottom of this newsletter to see a list of the many great events happening at other libraries in our area.
Keep reading for opportunities to learn, discover, and celebrate together.

📚 Celebrating Black History Month
Black History Month is a time to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history that are too often overlooked or erased. Libraries play a vital role in preserving these histories, offering access to books that educate, challenge, and inspire readers of all ages. Reading and learning during this month allows us to deepen our understanding of the past, recognize the roots of present-day experiences, and imagine a better future for all of us.

✍️ Read the book before you watch it on screen: Romance Edition ❤️
There’s something special about meeting the characters on the page first - feeling every glance, secret, and heartbreak as the author intended.
From the charm of ‘People We Meet On Vacation’ to the tension in ‘Finding Her Edge’, the gothic intensity of ‘Wuthering Heights’, and the dark twists of ‘Verity’, fall in love with the story before you see it unfold on screen later this year.
