Join us for an encouraging webinar that explains what is a family history profile and why it is important. This program lays out the basic steps you’ll take, from choosing your first subject to sharing your finished work. Along the way, you’ll see how the many resources available at Plainfield Public Library can make the project easier. Let us help you get started!
Summer Exhibition: America's Black Cowboys & Cowgirls
Join us for a Photographer Meet & Greet with Brian Branch Price on Saturday, July 29 @ 1PM in the ALD Room.
This black & white photograph series by local photographer, Brian Branch-Price, presents a glimpse of Brian’s stunning and sublime Black Cowboy and Cowgirl portraiture collection. Featured in this exhibition are the Crazy Faith Riders of New Jersey, The Federation of Black Cowboys (NY), and Black rodeos across the United States. The exhibit is funded, in part, with a grant from the Plainfield Cultural & Heritage Commission. It will be located in the Anne Louise Davis Gallery (on the lower level), and will run
thru September 23, 2023.

Mechanical Music with Ian Fraser

1PM in the ALD Room
Come learn about mechanical music with Plainfield musician, Ian Fraser. Ian will talk a bit about mechanical music and instruments, like crank organs and carousels, from the 1800s, and play his authentic 1881 Celestina crank organ. Attendees will even get to turn the crank organ themselves!
All ages welcome!
These free programs are co-hosted by Plainfield Public Library and the Historical Society of Plainfield / Drake House Museum.
