July 2026

Have you heard the news? Our doors are finally open! Come pick up a book, discover an author, learn something new in one of our programs, connect with an organization you weren't familiar with before, and more!

We have loved welcoming the community back to a refreshed and revitalized space. Our Children's Library has been busy with our youngest readers and teens as they've now launched their summer reading program. Our Adult Literacy Department is back to teaching in the building and offering their labor and literacy lab to help job seekers. And Local History is ready to help you with all of your research needs and is now a proud partner of Revolution NJ. We are also bringing the world’s greatest soccer tournament to the library with special live viewings in the ALD Room.

Whether our doors are open or closed, you can continue to check out books, movies, and more on Libby and Hoopla - free with your Plainfield Library card. Your card grants you 24/7 remote access to these apps and dozens of online databases more at no cost.

Whether you’re joining our summer reading activities or simply enjoying a quiet place to relax, there’s something for everyone at the library this month.

We look forward to seeing you!

📚 Thank you to everyone who attended our Grand Reopening on Saturday, June 13, 2026! Since reopening our doors, it has been truly exciting to see familiar faces, meet new readers, and launch fresh programs in our improved space.

On June 17th, our Adult Literacy Department proudly held an end of class celebration for students that completed our Northstar Digital Literacy courses taught in Spanish. Congratulations to our instructors, graduates, and their families for this wonderful achievement!

Every success story at our library is made possible through the dedication of our staff, who work together to support our community, and the determination of our students, whose hard work and commitment make these accomplishments possible. We are proud to celebrate each of you and all that you have achieved.

Below is a heartfelt letter from our students:

Dear members of the Plainfield Public Library, City of Plainfield officials, teachers, family members, and friends:
Today, our hearts are filled with joy and gratitude. We would like to express our sincerest thanks to the Plainfield Public Library for opening  its doors to the community and giving us the opportunity to learn, grow, and prove that it is never too late to achieve a goal. To our teachers, thank you for your patience, dedication, and for believing in us throughout this journey. Your support helped us move forward and gain confidence in our abilities. To our classmates, thank you for sharing this experience with us, for your encouragement, the memories we created, and the friendships that made this journey even more meaningful. As immigrants, we have faced many challenges and have had to start over more than once. We would also like to recognize and thank the City of Plainfield for supporting educational initiatives that benefit our community. Plainfield is a diverse city full of opportunities, and we truly appreciate its commitment to education, inclusion, and the growth of its residents. This certificate represents our courage, our hard work, and our hope of building a better future for ourselves and our families. Today, we celebrate the fact that, with perseverance and support, dreams really can come true. Thank you once again to our teachers, our fellow students, and everyone who has supported and visited our program.
With gratitude,The Students of the Computer Literacy Program
