Author Jodi Patterson
PRIDE MONTH: Author Jodi Patterson
Conversation & Book Signing
Saturday, June 15th
10:30 am to 12:30 pm in ALD (lower level)

Author Jodie Patterson presents her debut book, THE BOLD WORLD: A Memoir of Family and Transformation. In her book, Jodie makes seamless the transition between civil rights as a question of race, and one of gender. Jodie’s memoir not only tells the story of her life as a mother and a trans advocate - but also her coming of age as an African American in New York City During the 70’s - and how issues of race, gender, and identity influenced her.

After her toddler, the third of five children, revealed that they identified as male, Jodie Patterson quickly realized she needed to reshape her own beliefs, and also those of the community around her.

Jodie Patterson is a social activist, entrepreneur, and writer. She has been lauded for her activist work by Hillary Clinton, The Advocate, Family Circle, Essence, Cosmopolitan, and Yahoo!, among others. She sits on the board of a number of gender/family/human rights organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign.  Photo credit: Omi Tanaka

This program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase.

This event is being sponsored by the City of Plainfield 150th Anniversary Committee, in conjunction with and celebration of Gay Pride Month.

New Computer Lab Facilities at Plainfield Public Library

[Photo credit: Oscar Ivan Esquivel Arteaga ]

Due to high demand for the library's numerous literacy, training, and career programs as well as our GED and Tech Certifications, we were proud to partner with  the City of Plainfield and New Jersey Labor & Workforce Development to build an additional computer lab on the main floor.

Not only has this  allowed us to double our training capacity, we are looking forward to introducing even more technology based programming for adults and teens.
