There is no busier time for our Reading Rainforest than the Summer. We have all kinds of guests traveling from all over to visit us with their one-of-a-kind storytimes, jammin' instruments, and special species surprises! At our Summer reading kick-off celebration on Friday, June 27th, we'll have a special visit from the NJ Snake Man and his reptilian friends!
June is sure to bring us plenty of surprises so make sure to read on so you miss none of the fun! School may soon be out, but we never stop learning at the library! |

You may be aware that June is recognized around the world as Pride Month, but did you know that it's also Rainbow Book Month and Immigrant Heritage Month? Rainbow Book Month is a nationwide celebration that honors LGBTQ+ authors and literary works that highlight the lives and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. Immigrant Heritage Month is an opportunity for everyone to explore their background while sharing and celebrating the diversity that makes our county so special.
At our library, we are committed to offering a catalog rich in diverse voices that reflect the community we serve and the world we live in. We invite you to explore our collection and support these storytellers, many of which are currently facing increasing censorship and book bans across the country.
This June also marks a year since the Plainfield Public Library, in a significant move underscoring its commitment to intellectual freedom and defending every library’s role as vital centers of democracy and learning, designated itself as a “Book Sanctuary."
As a Book Sanctuary, the Plainfield Public Library pledges to uphold the principles of free
access to information and diverse perspectives, ensuring that all books and resources are available without restriction or censorship. Together, let’s continue to celebrate the power of literature and the importance of representation.

Dear Patrons,
You may have heard that we're having some renovation done. And while we're very excited to welcome you with all our improvements and updates - we know this can raise many questions for those of you that visit us often and depend on our services.
As of right now, we have no definite dates of closure. We will do our very best to keep you informed on closings and what services we are still providing during construction. |
