Free computer classes return to the Computer Lab on March 7th, covering a range of introductory and intermediate computer topics.

The classes will run thru fall, with a summer break during June-July. Please see the flyer for full details of dates and times of classes.

The classes are entirely free of charge to Plainfield Public Library card holders, but please note that signup is required.

Classes this year include: Intro to computers, Microsoft Office programs (including Word and Excel), Email, Internet 101, and Keyboarding and "mousarobics" to help users get used to using the computer's controls. As part of the series there will also be a season of classes on the same topics conducted in Spanish.

Most classes will  run twice - once on Tuesday mornings, 9:30am-11:00am, and again on Wednesday evenings 7:00pm-8:30pm. (Participants can choose one or the other).

You can sign up online for these classes straight away using the form on the Library's Computer Training page, or by contacting staff to assist you by calling 908-757-1111 ext 112, or by visiting the Library in person.

Local Author Book Talk: Betty Livingston Adams
Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm
ALD Room (lower level)

In celebration of Women's History Month, we welcome local author Betty Livingston Adams for a book talk about her recent release, "Black Women's Christian Activism: Seeking Social Justice in a Northern Suburb." In her book, Adams examines the often overlooked role of non-elite black women in the growth of northern suburbs and American Protestantism in the first half of the twentieth century. She shows how religion made a key difference in the lives and activism of ordinary black women who lived, worked, and worshiped on the margin during this tumultuous time.
