Afternoon Films for Adults at the Library

Our season of afternoon movies continues on March 5th in the Anne Louise Davis Room with Won't You Be My Neighbor? "an exploration of the life, lessons, and legacy of iconic children's television host, Fred Rogers." [IMDB]

It's followed on March 19th at 1pm in the Anne Louise Davis Room by Mamma Mia 2 "Five years after the events of Mamma Mia!, Sophie prepares for the grand reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna as she learns more about her mother's past." Starring  Lily James, Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep [IMDB].

Many more films follow, so keep an eye on the billing and don't miss a chance to see your favorites on our big screen!

Renewals News

Up to now, Patrons have always been able to renew items (e.g. books) they've borrowed, twice, after they have been checked out from the library. After the second renewal, items had to be returned to the library for at least 24 hours before they could be borrowed again.

That's changing from March 1st. Except when an item is marked as New, or is requested by another Patron (a 'Hold'), Patrons will be able to return most items to the library and check them out again straight away, (thus making the items capable of further renewals).

Items marked as New, and items with a Hold can't be checked out again straight away,  and Holds will be returned and made available for the next Patron waiting for it.

Please note that the Library does not renew DVDs (but they can be checked out again if there are no Holds).

Memoir Writing Club
Thursday, March 14th
10:30am in Room 8 (lower level)

This month's optional writing topic is "Food of Our Childhood".

Was it all vegetables and cod liver oil? Were you fed food that was embarrassing for your friends to see because it was the food your parents ate when they were young? Was it great food that you can't find any more and would love to have again? Come and tell us all about it in March.

The Library's Memoir Writing Club offers members a comfortable forum for sharing stories of important events, friendships, and family history. Do you have memories that you would like to share? Come join the Memoir Writing Club. Before a session, participants write down their memories - creating a Memoir. During meetings, members share what they've written on a topic. At the end of each meeting the group chooses an optional topic for the next session, but individual members are free to write about whatever inspires them.
