Sean Gaskell presents the Kora (West African Harp)
Tue, May 30, 7:00pm – 8:30pm, in the Anne Louise Davis room

Sean Gaskell
Sean Gaskell presents the Kora

Join us for an evening of traditional West African music with a player who has been described as "an amazing talent", and whose "playing and singing are right-on when it
comes to traditional Mandinka style."

Sean Gaskell features traditional songs on
the Kora, a 21 string harp that he learned
how to play throughout the course of multiple visits to its homeland in Gambia, West
Africa.

Join us to hear a selection of traditional
(some songs can be traced back over 800 years- or even longer), and newer pieces.

Gaskell will also share information on the history and traditions of the Kora that he has gained through his extensive studies under
the instruction of Malamini Jobarteh and
Moriba Kuyateh, both of Brikama, Gambia.

This concert is free.
