Library Director Mary Ellen Rogan

Fall is my favorite season and I am excited about all the library has to offer in October.

There will be a petting zoo, pony rides for the kids, a decorate your own pumpkin table, courtesy of Plainfield’s Dept. of Recreation, Touch-a-Truck, face painting courtesy of the Friends of Plainfield Public Library, as well as information and give aways from our Police and Fire departments.

October Programs for Teens

Here is a limerick to introduce our fall program:

Do you like leaves all soggy and wet?
Then the fall is as good as it gets.
You can squish 'em up good,
Then go play in the woods.
(And there's pumpkins candy as well, don't forget!)

We sincerely hope you enjoyed our efforts there. Here are some fall activities we think will be more exciting than squishin' up leaves...

Perler Beads on October 7th (4pm in Room 5) will offer a workshop in creating fun 2d plastic sculpture pieces using fusible plastic beads. If you haven't tried Perler beads before, come and learn how to make great little pixellated doodads from scratch!

Twine is a webapp that lets you create complex interactive fiction pieces - and can even be used to make games involving conditional logic and saved variables that can affect how the story plays out. Come and find out more about Twine on October 15th at 4pm in the CLC Lab and soon you could have all your friends choosing-their-own-adventure in a story world created by YOU.

October 22nd is the day for the return of Code Combat, the online dungeon adventure that teaches you Python coding as you hack and slash your way through a fantasy realm of ogres, magic and monsters.

Check out the posters in the links, or contact teens@plfdpl.info (908) 757-1111 x139 to find out more! Oh, and Happy Halloween when it comes!
