Donor Spotlight - The Cathie Family

Our sincere thanks to the Reverend Burton C. Cathie and Dr. Shirley B. Seabrook Cathie Family for their generous donation of family papers, phonograph records, scrapbooks, and photographs.  The Local History Department is thrilled to receive such a wonderful collection of materials that document the history of this beloved Plainfield family.  In addition, the famiily has also made a charitable financial donation to help offset the cost of archival-quality storage materials.  Thank you so much!

The Local History Department welcomes gifts of family papers and photographs, as well as records of local organizations.  Without personal donations such as this, we are unable to fully and accurately document the history of Plainfield.

For more information about how to make a donation, please contact the Local History Department at (908) 757-1111 Ext. 136.

After completing the preparatory program, the fifteen newly minted tutors will begin teaching classes and tutoring students one-on-one in a variety of subjects including ESL, GED prep, Math, Reading, Writing, and Citizenship. There will be a new round of training in the spring. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us here. We have partnered with the New Jersey State Library to develop and conduct a Literacy Boot Camp aimed at libraries and library professionals interested in starting or expanding their adult literacy services.
