Summer was a blast! Although our construction forced us to be closed for some of it, the enthusiasm of our staff and patrons helped our programs, services, and spirit be felt throughout the Queen City.

It's sad to see summer fade away, but the good news is we have fun, creative, and educational programming ready all year long. And our shelves are always full and waiting for you to pick out your next favorite read.

Keep scrolling to get a glimpse of what we have planned in September and how you can make the most of your local library. And don't forget, we are officially back to our Fall Hours

Who said libraries don't know how to party?

🫧 On Friday, August 22nd our Youth Services Department celebrated the end of another amazing season of Summer Reading with treats, prizes, and a giant Foam Party! This was our best Summer celebration yet and we can't wait to celebrate again with you next year!
Congratulations to the recent graduates of our GED program!

🎓 Through determination, hard work, and perseverance, each student achieved this important milestone. We celebrate not only our student's dedication but also the leadership of Rosa Nicks (GED and Literacy Outreach Coordinator at Plainfield Public Library) and our incredible team of volunteers. 🎊

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor and celebrate the vibrant contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx community to America's culture, the arts, and - of course - literature. From poetry to fiction, memoirs to magical realism, Hispanic authors have enriched the literary world with their unique voices, perspectives, and stories.

Hispanic literature is deeply intertwined with the Latinx experience often exploring themes of migration, identity, family, and resilience. Isabelle Allende, Gabriel García Márquez, and Sandra Cisneros, to name just a few, have expanded the boundaries of storytelling and provided windows into diverse lives and struggles.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month!

It may be small, but a library card packs a mighty punch. With it you can visit museums, take computer classes, expand your knowledge on any subject, and discover new favorite books. It’s one card with endless possibilities!
Big things are coming to our library!

We’re excited for our upcoming renovations that will greatly improve our Library. Get ready for fresh spaces, modern designs, and new features that will make your reading, learning, and community experiences even better.

In order to bring this vision to life, we do expect closures in the upcoming future to continue our construction project. To stay up to date check out our website.
