4th Annual Big Hole Tournament
Despite cold and blustery conditions, both days of our 4th Annual Bay Creek Big Hole Tournaments attracted large fields and the big holes yielded some small scores!  Several Bay Creek members played very well, particulary Joe Restein and Adam Wells who teamed up for a 17 under-par score of 55 to win the Championship Flight on Saturday.  Bill Hitchings and Mike Walsh shot 61 for fourth place.  Ron Matthews and Justin Matthews finished third in the 2nd Flight with a 68.  Fur Robbins aced the 4th hole to win the Close to Pin contest!  On Sunday, Mike and Stephanie Holvick shot 67 to take third place in the 2nd Flight and Claude Reid won Close to Pin on No. 6.  Congratulations to all!

Nicklaus Cup Match Play Championship
Registration Ends April 8
Only one more week to enter the 2018 Nicklaus Cup, a season long match play tournament. The Champion will receive the traditional shadowbox and personal parking space, with gift cards paid out to those reaching the quarterfinals or higher. Matches may be played on either the Palmer or Nicklaus course. The Entry Fee is $30 per player. To register, stop by the Golf Shop or call 757.331.8623 to charge to your account.  The pairings brackets will be posted on April 9th.

2018 Tournament Schedule
The 2018 Tournament Schedule is set with thirteen Members events and four major tournaments that are also open to area golfers. In addition to the Big Hole Tournament, the Bay Creek Amateur, the Ladies Invitational and the King & Bear Two-Man return this year. Ladies League Welcome Breakfast

Bay Creek Ladies - please joins us for the 2018 Welcome Breakfast even if you do not plan to play in the Ladies League! Come meet other lady members, have a delicious breakfast and enjoy a casual round of golf afterward. For those planning on playing in the League, attendance at this event is highly recommended as Joe Burbee, PGA Director of Golf, will present the League Rules. The Ladies League is casual and fun for all skill levels – we play every Thursday morning from April 20 through October 5. We are excited about the upcoming season and look forward to renewing friendships after a long, cold winter … hopefully we’ll see some new faces each week as well!

Par 3 Tournament
Saturday, April 28 - 9:00am
Don’t miss our 9th Annual Spring Par 3 Tournament on the Nicklaus Course this year, inspired by the Par 3 Championship at the Masters! We will have lunch and award the prizes right after the tournament in the Coach House Tavern.  The entry fee of $25 includes lunch & prizes. Advance registration is required, sign up in the Golf Shop or call 757.331.8623.

BodyStretch Class
Please join us for our weekly BodyStretch Class every Tuesday morning in April at 9:00am at the Beach Club. This class combines light calesthenics (no jumping) with basic stretches and simple movements from Yoga, Pilates and the Titleist Performance Institute for a FUN and effective workout for Members of all ages and fitness levels. There is no charge for members, your guests are welcome to pay a Guest fee and join in. You do not have to attend every week to participate.

Homeowners Association News
The Bay Creek Community Association Board of Directors met March 29 at the Bay Creek Beach Club.  Among other things, the Board voted to take the following actions:
• Accept the bid from Chesapeake Tennis to resurface the community tennis courts as endorsed by the Reserve Report.  The contract also includes a new net and striping for Pickleball. 
• Sign a contingency agreement with the law firm of Thomas, Adams & Associates for all new account collections.
• Contract with Bredimus Landscaping for a minimum of 30 hours for mechanical beach cleaning where and when allowed by F&WS.
• Approve the proposal from Browder-Hite for work at the intersection of Colony and Kings Bay to clear existing shrubbery and replace with low-growing grasses to improve visibility for vehicle traffic.
• Accept the bid from Bredimus Landscaping to smooth and level the soil adjacent to Palmer Drive and add pine straw.
• Accept the bid from Corbin & Company to complete the Association’s 2017 Audit.
The next Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 28 at 9:00am.

Pine Tree Removal Project
Simpson's Tree Service began work in late January to remove up to 433 loblolly pines that are damaging the asphalt on Bay Creek Parkway and Arnold Palmer Drive.  As of this week, 319 trees have already been taken down and their stumps removed to ground level.  Once the tree root problem is solved, the Association will be able to start work on a road resurfacing plan.

Golf Shop
The first tee time every day in April will be 7:00am on Nicklaus and 7:05am on Palmer. The Golf Shop opens at 6:30am. For more information or to make tee time reservations, please call the Golf Shop at 331.8620 or Book Online.
Beach Club
The Fitness Club and Lounge will be open from 7:00am until 7:00pm every day in the month of March.
Coach House Tavern
The Tavern serves Breakfast and Lunch and Dinner every day in April along with Brunch on Sunday.  We will be staying open later, until 10:00pm, for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings this summer.  Surf & Turf Dinners are offered on Fridays and Saturdays along with fresh seafood and rotating specials. Italian Night continues on Monday evenings. Please phone the Tavern at 331.8630 to place carryout orders or to make a dinner reservation.

Nicklaus and Palmer on the All-time Win List
Arnold and Jack are both still among the Top Five in lifetime PGA Tour wins.  The all time leader is Sam Snead (82), followed by Tiger Woods (79), Jack Nicklaus (73), Ben Hogan (64) and Arnold Palmer (62).  But that's just on the PGA Tour.  Including wins overseas and Champions Tour wins, Arnold had 93 and Jack had 117!
