Quote of the Month
August 13, 1966:  While caddieing for Arnold Palmer during the Thunderbird Classic, caddie Steve Acocella becomes confused after Palmer’s drive hits the water. Palmer tosses him a ball, but Acocella flinches. “I didn’t want to catch it for fear of causing him a penalty,” he said. Acocella stumbles and the ball, bag, clubs and caddie all tumble into the water. Asked later if helped his flailing caddie recover, Palmer jokes, “I wanted to push him in further.” Acocella says, “He laughed like the devil. At least I have something to tell my grandchildren.

Homeowners Association News
The Board of Directors of the Bay Creek at Cape Charles Community Assocation met on July 13 and again on July 20 in the Beach Club Lounge.  After brief Voting Member and Homeowner Forums, the  Board went to Executive Session to discuss contracts and to interview bidders for a future management contract.

It was suggested in the Voting Member Forums that the rules be modified to allow street parking in some Bay Creek neighborhoods. This is a complex issue with several owners arguing both for and against street parking. The Board recognized that more work needs to be done to study this matter and sent by email a survey to owners in New Quarter and King's Bay/Colony.  Complete Minutes are posted on the Association website.

The next Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 14 at 9:00am in the Beach Club Lounge.  All homeowners are invited to attend.

55 Nicklaus Design courses rank among Best Courses in Every State in latest Golf Digest List
It’s been 40 years since Golf Digest first started ranking the best courses in each state—11 years after the debut of their national list.  Last month, they honored the top courses in all 50 states—including 55 Nicklaus Design courses in 31 of the 39 states where the world’s leading golf course design firm has a presence. Nicklaus Design layouts took the No. 1 spot in six states: Alabama (Shoal Creek); Colorado (Castle Pines Golf Club); Kentucky (Valhalla); Louisiana (The Country Club of Louisiana); Ohio (Muirfield Village Golf Club); and Texas (Whispering Pines Golf Club). And of course, our Nicklaus Course at Bay Creek is again ranked one of the best in Virginia.
