Age Shooter
Dick Clepper performed one of the most difficult feats in golf by shooting a score better than his age.  At age 72, Mr. Clepper finished with a score of 71 on the Palmer Course on July 28!   Shooting your age is statistically more rare than a hole-in-one.  Congratulations, Dick.  We hope shooting your age becomes a regular occurence!

Nicklaus No. 15 Tee Reopens
The main teeing ground on Nicklaus No. 15 has been re-grassed with Zeon Zoysia and is back open for play.   The Tifsport Bermuda originally planted on that tee had struggled for some time with the shady conditions and had to be sodded nearly every year.  Zeon Zoysia has proven to be shade, draught and salt tolerant and produces less thatch than other zoysia varieties.  Zeon was the grass used for the playing fields of the 2016 Rio Olympics and we are confident it will be a good fit for our 15th tee.
The new Zoysia tee on Nicklaus No. 15 is now open

Jack Nicklaus at the Majors
Jack Nicklaus competed in 72 majors as a professional in the 1960s and '70s. Fifty-six times he finished inside the top 10, compared with four missed cuts.  Of course, he won eighteen of them.  Jack didn’t just want to win. He didn’t just want to make money. He wanted to compete. He wanted the challenge. He wanted to prove that he had the game to win The Open. He wanted to prove that he wasn’t washed up after the ’79 season or before the ’86 Masters.  He wanted the best of Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. When Trevino and Miller and Weiskopf, and then Watson emerged, he wanted their best, too. Seve, Faldo, Langer, Lyle, Woosie, Norman – even past his prime, he wanted all they could offer.  “Had none of those guys come along, I may not have pushed myself as hard. It was good for me,” Jack says. “Of course I took it as a challenge. Who wouldn’t? … There were all these young guys coming along, ‘Oh, here’s the next guy that’s gonna take Nicklaus off the throne.’ Fine. I love that.”

Is Jack Nicklaus' majors record untouchable?
