2018 Hunting Season Continues
Bay Creek South has arranged for an organized dear hunt effort again this year to coincide with the permitted season which continues until the first week of January. The hunt is taking place on lands owned by Bay Creek South in the same manner as it was conducted last year. The hunters will be shooting downward from elevated deer stands on Bay Creek South property only and not near homes or on Association property. The safety of owners and members is the priority with the hunters, all of whom are licensed and experienced. Nonetheless, please exercise caution and avoid walking through areas that are not part of the Association’s Common Area during this period.

Nicklaus Cup Match Play Championship
Joe Restein and Steve Grimes will meet in the finals of the 2018 Nicklaus Cup, a season long match play tournament. Mr. Restein beat Hu Odom 4 & 3 in the semi-finals while Mr. Grimes got past Brad Whitfield 3 & 1.  The Champion will receive the traditional shadowbox and personal parking space, with gift cards paid out to those reaching the quarterfinals or higher.  View the Brackets Here.

King & Bear Results
A full field of 240 golfers from Virginia and surrounding states competed in the 7th Annual King & Bear Tournament on November 10th and 11th. This was a two person team event with each team completing one round on Palmer (The King) and one on Nicklaus (The Bear). Despite cool temperatures and challenging winds, the scores were very good.  Jon Rosenstock and Jed Rasnick shot 136 to win the Championship Flight but several Bay Creek members took home prizes. Adam Wells and Joe Restein won the First Flight with a score of five-under par 139.  Bill Stramm and Rusty Gates finished fourth in the Second Flight and Billy Hussa and Michael Hussa took third in the Fifth Flight.  Mr. Restein also won Close to Pin on the 4th hole on the Palmer Course. Congratulations to all!

Pickleball at Bay Creek
Do you play pickleball? Do you want to learn to play or are you looking for others to play? Our new tennis courts are striped for pickleball and, if there is sufficient interest, the HOA Board is considering buying a supply of paddles and balls. Jack Nicklaus Golf Tips
With eighteen professional major championships, two U.S. Amateurs and eight senior majors, Mr. Nicklaus is the all-time greatest champion in golf.  Below are a few of his favorite tips that may help your game. 
Learn, practice and trust one basic swing.  Most golfers, and especially those who begin the game as adults, pick it up and then continue to play by trial and error, rather than by formally learning one basic method.
The harder I want to hit a shot, the slower I try to begin the swing.
One of my lifelong checkpoints is the keep the shaft between my arms throughout the swing.
When I putt, I hold my breath just before initiating the stroke to keep my head and body still.

BodyStretch Class
Please join us for BodyStretch Class on Tuesday mornings in December at 9:00am at the Beach Club. There will be no classes on December 25 (Christmas Day) and January 1 (New Year's Day). This class combines light calesthenics (no jumping) with basic stretches and simple movements from Yoga, Pilates and the Titleist Performance Institute for a FUN and effective workout for Members of all ages and fitness levels. There is no charge for members, your guests are welcome to pay a Guest fee and join in. You do not have to attend every week to participate.

December Hours and Schedule
Golf Shop
The first tee time in December will be 8:00am on Nicklaus and 8:05am on Palmer. The Golf Shop opens at 7:30am. The Golf Shop will be closed on Christmas Day.  One course will be reserved for Member play until 11:00am each day; your guests are welcome to join you on the Member Course. Beach Club
The Fitness Club and the Member Lounge will be open from 7:00am to 7:00pm in the month of December, except for Christmas Eve when the Club will close at 2:00pm and Christmas Day, when the Club will remain closed.
Coach House Tavern
The Tavern serves Breakfast and Lunch every day in December along with Brunch on Sunday. Dinner will be served only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings during the winter months. Surf & Turf Dinners are offered on Fridays and Saturdays along with fresh seafood and rotating specials. Italian Night continues on Monday evenings. The Tavern will close at 2:00pm on Christmas Eve and will remain closed on Christmas Day. Please phone the Tavern at 331-8630 to place carryout orders or to make a dinner reservation.

Video - Arnold Palmer Saves Christmas
In addition to his Hall-of-Fame playing career, Mr. Palmer helped found the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, which has served the Orlando pediatrics community for nearly 30 years. In 2013, Mr. Palmer and the hospital asked Strong Films to create a video to inspire hope and to deepen relationships with the community.  In the video, three of its current patients are seen coping with the fact that they must remain at the hospital for Christmas, and what that might mean for their ability to see family or receive presents.

Strong Films faced several challenges.  "We needed to make sure that in the process we didn’t accidentally expose the true identity of Santa. Our challenge was multifaceted: we were given only 20 minutes to film Mr. Palmer, we had one shot at filming Santa in the helicopter, we had to film a few days before Christmas, as well as (early) Christmas morning to capture the real reactions of the kids. And, we had to deliver within 48 hours, which we accomplished a day early."

Within a few days of release, the film gained over 40,000 views. It was also picked up by the Golf Channel, CBSSports.com, and the PGA Tour social media channels.  View Arnold Palmer Saves Christmas.
