Tavern Wins Chowder Cook-Off Again
For the second consecutive year, Coach House Chef Ramon Soto and the Tavern team won a Silver Spoon award at the Eastern Shore Chowder Cook-Off.  Ramon made a Bourbon Street Seafood Chowder with shrimp, oysters, crawfish, andouille sausage and Cajun seasoning. We served it over grits and topped it with shredded, fresh, local Flounder and then finished it off with a maple, caramel, coffee reduction created by Jon Bloxom.   It was a huge success as the Coach House Tavern defeated 11 other restaurants to win 2nd Place Judges Choice and 1st Place Peoples Choice.  The new Chowder will be a regular Soup of the Day in the Tavern.

January 25, 1995
The idea of a 24-hour golf network came from media entrepreneur Joseph E. Gibbs of Birmingham, Alabama.  Gibbs felt there was enough interest in golf among the public to support such a network, and commissioned a Gallup Poll to see if his instincts were correct. With the support of the polling behind him, Gibbs and legendary golfer Arnold Palmer then secured $80 million in financing from several cable television providers to launch the network, which was among the first cable networks developed to cover one singular sport.

As a founder of Golf Channel, Arnold Palmer ceremoniously flips a switch
as the cable network makes its on-air debut.
