Hunting Season Ends in January
Bay Creek South's organized dear hunt continues until the end of hunting season in the first week of January. The hunt is taking place on lands owned by Bay Creek South in the same manner as it was conducted last year. The hunters will be shooting downward from elevated deer stands on Bay Creek South property only and not near homes or on Association property. The safety of owners and members is the priority with the hunters, all of whom are licensed and experienced. Nonetheless, please exercise caution and avoid walking through areas that are not part of the Association’s Common Area during this period.

Hole in One!
Blaine Smith aced the fourth hole on the Palmer Course on December 27.   Blaine was playing with his daughter, Payton, when he found the cup with a 6 iron from 167 yards.  This was Mr. Smith's second hole in one at Bay Creek.  Congratulations!
Blaine and Payton Smith celebrate his ace!

Nicklaus Cup Championship
Grimes Takes the 2018 Title

Steve Grimes defeated Joe Restein 5&4 in the 2018 Nicklaus Cup Match Play Championship on December 7.  Named in honor of Bay Creek designer and the game's greatest Champion, the Nicklaus Cup is a season long match play tournament.  Dr. Grimes had previously won the Nicklaus Cup in 2016 and Mr. Restein had already won the Club Championship at stroke play earlier this year.  Hu Odom and Brad Whitfield were the others who reached the Final Four.  Dr. Grimes will receive the traditional shadowbox and champion's parking space.  Mr. Restein and the other quarterfinalists receive gift cards.   View the Brackets Here.

Jack Nicklaus Golf Tips
With eighteen professional major championships, two U.S. Amateurs and eight senior majors, Mr. Nicklaus is the all-time greatest champion in golf.  Below are some of his most enduring words and a few of his favorite tips that may help your game.
Practice hitting as fully as you can without letting either heel lift at any point in the swing.  This will teach you the proper way to shift weight by rolling your ankles, but most of all it will teach you the feeling of staying "centered."
The fuller your backswing, the longer it takes to execute, which can help your tempo.  Longer swingers, I've noticed, usually enjoy longer lasting careers.
want to hit a shot, the slower I try to begin the swing.
Even the greatest players learn they can't try the "hero" shot all the time.

Palmer-Nicklaus or is it Nicklaus-Palmer
"Arnold Palmer spent three years guarding coasts and honing his game. For a time he sold paint supplies in Cleveland. The U.S. Amateur brought him back on course. He won it in 1954, 1 up over investment banker and middle-age millionaire Bob Sweeny. That same year, Arnold successfully defended his Ohio Amateur Championship outside Toledo, where late one day he had the range to himself, knocking down 9-irons in the rain. Only one spectator stood watching, a 14-year-old named Jack Nicklaus. They would end up hyphenated like Dempsey-Tunney." - Tom Callahan

The names Nicklaus and Palmer were linked for decades.
We are proud to carry on their legacy at Bay Creek.
