Club Championships
Saturday and Sunday, July 22 -23 - Tee Times start at 8:00 each day
The annual Bay Creek Club Championship is a Members tournament contested over two days with 36 holes of Stroke Play to determine the Club Champion in the Mens, Seniors and Womens Divisions. Round 1 is played on the Palmer course, Round 2 – Nicklaus. Lunch in the Tavern follows golf both days. Who will win the title (and the coveted Champions Parking Spaces) at Bay Creek this year?  Entry fee of $100 per player includes tee gift of a dozen Titleist Pro V1s and lunch both days. Stop by the Golf Shop or call 757-331-8623 for more information or to register for this event.

Southern Living Dinner Specials
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 7-9
Please join us in the Coach House Tavern for our unique Southern Living inspired Dinner Specials one weekend each month. This month's Featured Soup is Gulf Coast Seafood Stew, the Southern Living entrees include Southern Shrimp and Grits, Old Fashioned Meatloaf and Sweet Tea Brined Chicken.  Prices range from $18 to $22, sides included. The Featured Dessert is Peach Cobbler.  Reservations are encouraged for members, home owners and your guests.  Please call the Tavern at 331.8630 for more information or to reserve your table.

Practice Range
MEMBERS - Please use the No. 10 cart path to access your Private Member range tee rather than crossing over the left side of the main tee. The constant cart traffic is damaging the turf on on that tee.  Thank you!

U.S. Kids at Bay Creek
U.S. Kids brought their premier State Junior Championship to Bay Creek for the first time on June 24th and 25th. Divisions for boys and girls aged 6 – 14 attracted 123 junior golfers from 13 states and the U.K. to compete on our Arnold Palmer course. Several Bay Creekers played great! Lorenzo Pinilli, grandson of Florante and Evelyn Pinilli, shot 74-69-143 to win the Boys 12 division. Jack Burbee, son of Joe, finished second in the Boys 13-14 age group with a score of 76-72-148. Leandro Pinilli took 5th and Henry Burbee finished 8th in the Boys 10 division. Toryn Ibarra, son of Jaime, was 8th in the Boys 9 age group.

A special thanks to all of the Members who volunteered to make this event a success: Sam Barker, Andy Bridgforth, Jim Joyce, Harold & Maxine Rasmussen, Bob O’Brien, Jerry Adams, Ron & Sherry Wrucke, John Salm, Rusty Gates and Bill Girtman. You helped make the event really special, the kids and their families had a great experience because of your efforts.  Thank you!

Ladies Invitational Results

The annual Ladies Invitational was a sell out again this year with 96 players competing in two person teams in seven flights on June 2.  Teams traveled in from Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina and all over Virginia to compete and were rewarded with great weather and beautiful course conditions on our Nicklaus course. Congratulations to Bay Creek Members Gail Edwards, who with partner Pam Chaney, won the 2nd Flight, Kim Lenhardt & Lisa George who took second in the 2nd Flight, Judy Barker & Martina Coker who finished second in the 7th Flight and Patsy Harris, who finished third in the 7th Flight with partner Linda Sally.  After golf, the luncheon and awards ceremony took place in the Cabana Room at Kings Creek Marina.

An Ace for Joyce!
Jim Joyce aced the 7th hole on the Palmer Course on June 6. Playing with his wife Bonnie, he hit a 4 Iron from 170 yards.   It was his first hole in one after many years of playing golf and it came after an eight month layoff!   Congratulations, Jim!

Parent - Child Tournament

One-Day Member Guest Results
Joe & Addison Restein shot a one-under par 71 to win the 3rd Annual One-Day Member Guest on June 17.  Blaine Smith & Patrick LaBaugh took second and Jaime Ibarra & Sinjin Jones were third.  Garrett Dunham & Keith Hensley won Low Net with Brad Whitfield & Jason Dodzik second and Vance Phillips & Brian McCloskey third.  Dave Baudoin (No. 4), Patrick LaBaugh (No. 6), Mike Callaway (No. 12) and Avis Gates (No. 16) won the Close-to-Pin contests.  Congratulations to all!

BodyStretch Class
There will be no BodyStretch Class on Tuesday, July 4. Other than Independence Day, BodyStretch will continue on Tuesday mornings in July at 9:00am at the Beach Club. This class combines light calesthenics (no jumping) with basic stretches and simple movements from Yoga, Pilates and the Titleist Performance Insititue for a fun and challenging experience for Members of all ages and fitness levels. There is no charge for members, your guests are welcome to pay a Guest fee and join in.

Homeowners Association News
The Board of Directors of the Bay Creek at Cape Charles Community Assocation met on June 15 in the Beach Club Lounge. Actions taken:
  • The Board voted to approve the plan to issue gate cards rather than entry codes to help reduce unauthorized entry. The goal is that all private vehicles (excepting some marked service and delivery trucks) entering or parked in Bay Creek must display some sort of identifying decal or hang tag at all times. An implemenation schedule and timeline will be determined and appropriate notice sent to owners.
  • The Board voted to to engage a Forestry Consultant to make a recommendation for resolving the ongoing problem with encroaching tree roots along Palmer Drive and Bay Creek Parkway. 
  • The Board voted to approve the ANEC proposal to extend three-phase underground service to 100 Nicklaus Drive for the waterfall pump pending approval of the location of the new pedestal.  And the Board voted to approve the REZ Proposal to trench conduit from the new pedestal to that waterfall pump and to provide the electrical installation for the pump after confirmation of the location for the new backboard.
The next Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled forThursday, September 14 at 9:00am in the Beach Club Lounge.  All homeowners are invited to attend. 

July Hours and Schedule
Golf Shop
The first tee time every day in June, July and August will be 7:00am on Nicklaus and 7:05am on Palmer. The Golf Shop opens at 6:30am.  One course will be open to Members Only until 11:00am each day.  Of course, your accompanied guests are welcome to join you on the Member course.  For more information or to make tee time reservations, please call the Golf Shop at 331-8620 or Book Online.
Beach Club
The Fitness Club, Member Lounge and pools will be open during the summer months from 6:30am to 8:00pm Monday through Friday and from 7:00am until 8:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Coach House Tavern
The Tavern serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner every day during the summer season.  Brunch is served on Sundays.  Surf & Turf specials are offered on Fridays and Saturdays along with fresh seafood and rotating specials. Italian Night continues on Monday evenings. Please phone the Tavern at 331-8630 to place carryout orders or to make a dinner reservation.

Arnold Palmer visited Bay Creek for the official Grand Opening of his first "Signature" course and played the front nine after putting on a golf clinic for the media, local dignitaries and Bay Creek Members.
